Statement of Faith

The Word of God
I believe the Holy Scriptures as contained in the old and new Testaments of the Bible to be the Word and revelation of God. The Bible was given directly to man by God through the work of God the Holy Spirit. This was done through verbal, plenary inspiration. The Bible is inerrant and infallible. It is God’s complete rule and guide for all Christians, for faith and practice in all areas of life. (Psalm 19:7-11; II Timothy 3:16-17; I Peter 1:16-25)
The King James Bible
I believe that God has preserved for us that which was originally inspired and written as Scripture within the King James Authorized Version. The King James Authorized Version is the Word of God. Therefore, I hold the King James Authorized Version to be without error. I believe that preservation and inspiration are two truths that cannot be separated. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:19-21; Psalm 119:89, 160; John 17:17; Luke 24:44-45; Proverbs 30:5-6; Romans 3:4; I Peter 1:16-25; Romans 15:4; Psalm 19:7-8)
The Person of God the Father
I believe God is personal, spirit, omniscient, sovereign, supreme, perfect, immutable, eternal in His being, holiness, love, wisdom, and power. I believe that God is absolutely separate and above the world as its creator, yet everywhere present in the world as the sustainer of all things. (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; Deuteronomy 4:35; 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:6; John 1:1-3; Romans 1:2-4; Ephesians 4:3-6)
The Person of Jesus Christ
I believe in the virgin birth of Christ, His Deity, and sinless life, His vicarious death, along with His bodily resurrection and ascension, and in His personal, pre-millennial return. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18; John 1:1; 14:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Luke 1:35; 1 Peter 2:22; 3:18)
The Person of the Holy Spirit
I believe the Holy Spirit is a person possessing all the attributes of Deity. He has existed eternally with the Father and the Son. I believe the Bible repudiates the charismatic emphasis upon the experiential oriented tongues and ecumenical practices as any ministry of the Holy Spirit. I believe His testimony is not of Himself but Jesus Christ and the redemptive truths centered in Christ. (Hebrews 9:14; John 14:16,17; 16:8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Acts 5:3,4; Ephesians 1:13,14; Romans 8:9; )
I believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of Grace, and that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. I believe that salvation was accomplished on the cross by Jesus Christ and is extended to all men as a gift to be received by faith. (John 3:3-6, 16;10:28-29; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Timothy 2:5,6; 1 Peter 1:18-23).
The Church
I believe that a church is a visible, local congregation of baptized believers, practicing New Testament principles, believing its doctrines, observing its ordinances, and exercising its autonomy. Each local church is and ought to be completely autonomous. (Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 1:22,23; Acts 2:41-47; Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Corinthians 12).
Heaven and Hell
I believe in the eternal blessedness of the saved in Heaven and the eternal punishment of the lost in Hell. All those that place faith and trust in Christ as Saviour will enjoy eternity in His presence in Heaven. All those that reject Christ will spend eternity in a literal Hell of fire and torment. Neither Heaven nor Hell are imaginary or figurative. (John 5:28,29; 14:2; Revelation 20:14,15; 21:4; Matthew 25:46).
Philosophy of Ministry
I believe that God expects and requires His people to be distinctly different from the World. This ought to be reflected in every area of life including the Christian’s choice of music. Christian music ought to be spiritual in nature and glorifying to God. While differences in taste and style are certainly acceptable good, Christian music is distinct from that of the world. I therefore stand against the use of contemporary Christian music otherwise known as “Christian rock music”.
As with music, a Christian ought to be distinct from the world in the area of dress. I believe that Christians’ dress ought to be modest, conservative, and above all Christ-honoring.
I am a Baptist by conviction. I believe that the body of doctrine long identified as Baptist is the most biblical found in any church today. Therefore I intend to partner with and establish only independent, Baptist churches in my ministry.
